[Woodcarver] Carving Golf Balls

I use to keep the sites until they started being unreliable. The way I tell
what golf balls to carve is the solid ones will make a sharper sound then the
ones with rubber bands. The rubber band ones will make more of a thud sound
when hitting cement, I might make a mistake one in 20 or so if that now that I
know the sounds they make. I have sorted more than 200 golfballs using this
method and it works really well.

For cutting the cover off mark the line where you want to cut first. Cut two
pieces of wood 1' thick that will fit in your vise, Drill a 1" about 1/2 "
deep into each piece of wood as near the end of the pieces as you can.

Put the ball into the holes and clamp in your vise. Take a diamond cutting
wheel in your rotary tool and cut along your line. The ball will have to be
rotated at lease once while cutting. At first I had to rotate the ball a couple
of times but then you get the hang of it. I tried making the golfball cover
cutting thing out of the pipe cutter with little luck. I can cut a lot of
covers in a short period of time with the rotary toll.

Any questions email and I might be able to get a picture of my setup to email
out if needed.
