Justin,

Try here:
http://www.woodfinder.com/

This is a website for mail order wood of all types. The site has been
around a while and trys to feature only reputable dealers.

You may not find a local dealer who handles basswood, the best stuff
tends to grow further north in the central states of the US. If they
handle it, it will likely not be local stuff. Check your phone book for
sawmills and lumber dealers who handle a good variety of hardwoods.
They are the most likely to have what you need.

Failing to find Basswood, try a piece of butternut, it also carves well
and is fun to work with.

all thebest, Vic H
