Alan,

I have chip carved for a few years. I have never taken classes from Mr.
Barton, but I think highly of his work. I believe he will teach you to draw
your pattern on the wood, using rulers, compasses etc. Some are teaching to
draw your pattern on paper and then using rubber cement glue it to the
board. Whichever method you chose to use the main thing is to sand your
wood very smoothly before you start.

There are to many different ways of chip carving to know exactly what you
need to know to get started. I would be happy to let you know what I have
done, like chip carving through painted wood. The most important is Sanding!

I have signed up for a a Wayne Barton course in a couple of months but want
