After looking at your photos I don't think you can stay away from carving too long- you are good. We all enjoy doing things we are good at. Don't deny yourself these simple pleasures that bring wood to life.

Not carving anything yet.  I have several other priorities ahead of
carving, but I'm getting that creative urge that will have to be
satisfied soon, so I'm trying to clear a path to my carving bench so I
can start work on a prancing horse for my pastor.  (You should have
heard that sermon!)
