[Woodcarver] re conservation wooden sign preservation

to someone out-there with special know how---a close conservation friend of  
mine wishes to post large,outdoor--all-weather routed wooden signs on 
protected  properties in our province of Ontario-----(1) what native wood to use and  
(2) how to weather protect same for lo maintenance and professional quality  
preservation---looking forward to a lively response--and thanking y'all in
