Joe, that pastel portrait class sounds awesome...wish I could join
you for that!!!

I'm in between carving projects, working on some small ornaments when
I get a few minutes. My main focus for last week and this week is
completing a pottery order for 36 mini wall pocket vases for one of
the schooners in the Maine historic schooner fleet. I'm using
underglazes to "paint" Maine scenes....pine trees, rocks and sailboat
for one design, and lighthouses, rocks and sailboats for the
other. I just got the first batch out of the kiln this morning after
the bisque firing, and I guess they'll do. With pottery glazes, I'm
never really sure of the outcome. If anyone is interested, I've
uploaded pictures in my "pottery" album at
http://www.picturetrail.com/cahvah Next I'll be adding the blue for
water and white for wave lines and clouds.

One of my student has loaned me a baby dress that was hers..her mom
kept it all these years. I'm taking lots of photos of it and my hope
is to do a carving of it for one of my next projects. I hope to get
started on it very soon, but haven't yet decided what wood I want to
use yet. I guess I'll know it when I see it.

Good luck in Texas, Joe!!! Sounds like a good time...profitable, too, I hope!!
