Steve,

My husband just reminded me that the Amish fellow said they use cottonwood in their buildings all the time but always inside as it does not weather well if left to the elements.   So,,,,,,perhaps it is really not a great buy at all if you plan to leave them outside 24/7.

 Hi Patti,
    3 chairs for $23 is a good price.  My old neighbor retired and we
see him occationally.  He moved up near Mercer, Wisconsin.  He told me
he could get some wood in 2x16 white pine.  When he checked it out, he
was told $75 for a 8 foot piece.
2 could make 3 chairs.  He is about 300 miles from me.  That is 600
miles round trip with about 12 hours of driving.  How many gallons of
gas?  He told me the next time he is in town, he will bring me some. 
But that my not be for a while.
    I am wondering if changing the grind of my v-tool  to leading wings
might slice and not push the grain.
