[Woodcarver] What have you been working on?

Hi John (Jack) Jellies,

I like the idea of mixing mediums also. Your idea of mixing precious metals with wood sounds interesting. Brings to mind one artist I saw years ago who did ebony turnings then inlayed thin sterling silver, mythical characters, around the turnings. He would hammer the soft sterling to expand to fit the cavity and give it the texture he wanted. As I recall he was making a good living at his art.

Busy summer, but a bit of time toward wood. I remarried last October so we hosted a big family get together last month to celebrate. One son graduated college, another almost there.

Working on a few woodspirits in cottonwood bark, a walnut mission style end table to match a coffee table I made and a big push in metalwork and jewelry. I'm thinking in the next year to start mixing wood and precious metal. I'm still pretty green at it, self taught (like my carving) and not an "art" jeweler but I get a kick out of it.
