[Woodcarver] looking for some advice and HELP !!!! 8-)

Hi John,

I do very little carving with power tools. I prefer chisels for my carving. Most gun stocks are a hard wood such as walnut. It's a little hard going but have you ever considered a knife for cutting designs into walnut gun stocks? Chisels and mallet would be my first choice for that type of work but if you don't have chisels I would try a knife.

Hi all have been doing some woodcarving for a short time now and now haved decided to look in to doing gunstocks and metal engraving. currently i use a multispeed dremel tool and also have a fordom (older model) have used ti very little tho and of course i have a few hand tools. Now the question and advice section: can anyone give me good advi`ce on doing such work ? any help is greatly appreciated. i know of these high speed dental drills but i cannot afford one, being on ssd makes it sorta impossible. need to find patterns and transfer paper, right now i dont have a printer but will be getting one shortly. have been doing carvings from pictures or hand tracing out designs. any help is welcomed.
