Dennis,
Sometimes things can seem a bit different than they actually are. For instence the name of this group is woodcarver not woodcarving. Appears to be a small difference, but can be big. To expect woodcarvers to only talk woodcarving is expecting bit more than possible. The chatter about a lot things, and allowing the individual personality of each carver to be shared is what makes this list work. It's quite easy to get to know these people in short period of time as though you've known them for years. The richness of knowledge of this group, I think, surpasses just about anything else you'll find. The biggest drawback sometimes is trying to sort through the large number of different answers to a question. But, that's a good thing.
This group would die if only carving was discussed. To discuss carving related items we need the beginners and newbies to ask questions.
In conclusion, why don't you help us by asking questions about carving? That will help you with lots of good information and probably a laugh or two thrown in for good measure. It'll also help you get to know us and we will get to know you. Everybody wins.
Byron
