[Woodcarver] NEWR (chat)

It was a strange and sad Roundup this year.  We knew we were going to be
without some, like Pat O'Dea and Tony Erikson, but then there were a slew of
last minute cancellations like yours, Pete LeClair, and a couple others from
our MVAWA club.  Thankfully we got good news on your Mom, and Tony (we heard
he was mowing his lawn, but just isn't cleared by the Doc for travel), and
Pete LeClair, but several others are in need of our Prayers.

 

Nick's coronation was a hoot.  For those who have not been to the NEWR, it's
a NEWR "thing", but our chip carving instructor, Koz, has always complained
(humorously) about the building #2 carving instructors having a lower status
than the building #1 instructors.  This year he was "elevated" to building
#1 status.  Jack Miller, George & Ann Reinfried, and George Bayshore had his
coronation all cooked up before Harold and I got there, but we definitely
contributed.  Cherry Ridge donated a copper crown, I stitched together a
cape from two purple Dollar Store towels, and the instructors formed two
lines facing each other and made an arch for him to walk through by raising
our knives/gouges and crossing them with the instructor facing us.  Oh, and
his scepter was a broom. which foreshadowed his new duties in Building #1.
Like I said, John Gritschi has it on MPEG, so that will be on the CD I'm
burning for you (right now in fact. send me your snail-mail addr privately).

 

Yes, "there is always NEXT YEAR!!!!", but I think we're all gonna need
signs.  "Will Carve for Gas".  My sign, "Will Play N.A. Flute for Gas" just
doesn't work for me. Hmmmm. maybe, "Will STOP Play N.A. Flute for Gas" <G>.

Oh thanks for the copy!  We all will watch it a laugh with you even if its
late!  I was a little worried that you might just pack up and leave but then
I knew someone would talk you out of it :)  The show must go on and all
that....  It was a kind jesture though and made us all laugh in the hospital
when I told Mom and Linda.  So thanks for that too.  Ann called and it did
sound like an unusual week for everyone!  Can't wait til next year!  We did
miss everyone!!

Thanks Jack!  We sure did miss not being able to share is all the fun!  But
the good news is there is always NEXT YEAR!!!!  I heard the cornation of
Nick was a hoot!  Wish I was there!
