Jim,
?I can't answer many of your questions but I have sold thru one gallery in Bristol, CT and at big shows such as the?3-day Boston Expo Center Christmas show and at the?Prudential Center.? At the Gallery I paid a 30% commission, sales were slow and payment spordic. ?At the shows when I figured in all travel costs and entry costs, it was costing me 35-40% of my sales and a lot of my time. I quit the shows after 3 years as too much?effort, but stuck to the gallery for 5 years. They had?there own standard form they insisted on.? ?I used same retail price at both shows and gallery. ?I also sold carvings wholesale to a fudge shop in Mystic,CT, that was best of all, cash on delivery, lot of sales in the summer,?but?I gave up 55%?of what I would have charged for retail sale, still I preferred?selling wholesale.?
I don't sell any more, turned out it was to much like work!
Good Luck

?
I have only sold my carvings at woodcarving shows and by word of mouth thru
people I knew from work, church, family, etc.? I have considered placing some of
my work in different shops and paying the commission that they want.? I have a
couple of questions about this practice.? .........................
