Ok, to explain the single stage vs two stage snow movin' machines while not getting too technical:
you usually find all electric ones as single stage, which means the motor turns the augers with just enough force to "throw" the snow up the chute and away. The two stage machines - gas engines - will drive not only the augers, but also an impeller or fan like device which picks up the augered, loose snow and "blow" it out the chute. So, since the engine operates both, thats why you get the "two-stage" moniker.
I much prefer my neighbours quad with plow blade - but its a personal choice.
