Hey Corey,

I really like the face in butternut great job!!! I have to ask a question since I am fairly new to computer lingo or maybe it is painting language but what is BLO mean????  I went back to the midwest so did just a little chip carving since it is easy to just have one knife and a few pieces of wood made some coasters and gave them all away to family members but did not get any picts of them. One of these days I will have to give a try to a figure cause I really like your farmer guy like I said reminds me of some of my neighbors. Keep those picts a comin'.

Corey:

I like your farmer.  I’m late looking but the trip was worth it.

Well the wife and daughter are away for the weekend and I had yesterday off so no honey-doo for me this weekend. I had been working on a little generic pattern and yesterday I cut this out as I wanted to see if the pattern as I had it would work on the bandsaw. I didn't envision it being this skinny as this was to be a test for a larger piece. I cut it out and man was he skinny. I sat down and just started carving it and I decided halfway through to make it a farmer. I think it turned out ok. He is about 4 inches tall without the base. The blank was cut out of a 2 x2 basswood and it was carved on the base. Finished in acrylics, BLO and satin lacquer. You can view it here: http://iowacarver.tripod.com/id5.html Thanks for looking as always!
