Thank you! But now what does "its a polymer so you will no longer have pure wood." mean?

Merrilee, as a very last resort, after all the alcohol has evaporated you can try soaking in the generic brand of Mop N Glow from your local dollar store. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It will take a couple of hours to dry and its a polymer so you will no longer have pure wood.

Subject: [Woodcarver] wood questions
Good Afternoon all!
I am in need of your great knowledge concerning wood. I am carving a welcome sign on basswood that has wormholes in it (I like the look :) so that's not the problem) but it is terribly dry and crumbly. Is there any way to rejuvenate it so it's easier to carve or am I doomed to pick it until it falls apart? Thank you all in advance for your great words of wisdom!
Merrilee
