For the last 38 years, all of my income has come from carving.
Things are a bit slow but I'm actually enjoying the more relaxed
pace. It's usually either, plenty of money and no time off, or time
off and not enough money. It's rarely just right. Past recessions
have been very good times for me. I'm lucky and thankful to have
wealthy clients that are less affected by the economy. I'm feeling
it more this time but enough commissions keep rolling in to make ends
meet. I'm also lucky to have a patron who always has a list of
carvings she wants me to do. Shes's so nice and patient that I can
do projects for her to fill in spaces in my schedule.

I'm more careful about purchases but I'm still always looking for
that new tool that will make my job go faster and easier. It becomes
an investment rather than an expense.
