[Woodcarver] Reasons to stay on the list

I figured I'd jump in since I'm a relative newbie on the list. I
enjoy the personalities this list has. I started getting the digest
and switched over to the regular list in the first few days for that
very reason. The first couple of weeks I got enough information both
from the list and directly from the helpful folks here to keep me
very busy with all the resources that were suggested. I spent about
19 hours straight working on servers at work since Friday morning
(guess that makes this Saturday here) and still enjoy the break of
reading about what folks are doing.
I did take a break this week from my chip carving practice and making
piles of neat little basswood triangles from my practice boards to
work on an idea I've had for a while. Now I've got a pile of
Butternut shavings, from my first attempt at carving a Mobius strip
(a solid loop with only one side and one edge) from a small block.
Guess it isn't a "normal" type carving but I enjoy trying out new
things. Before I discovered chip carving and this list my range of
tools for the last 30 something years has consisted of one well worn
bench knife and a few needle files. It is amazing how easy things are
when you have the right tools.
Thands to all the folks willing to offer advice. I'm sure I'll have
more questions.
