[Woodcarver] Question about flying with carving tools?

Jantu, I fly all the time with tools. You have to check them but you don't
need to tell them they are there. Iwas told and always do have a carving
book or magazine with my tools so you can tell what they are.

will be taking a trip to Los Angeles in a few weeks and would like to know
how do you take carving tools on an airplane.
Is it more trouble than it's worth? I could call the airlines and find out,
but thought I'd get the group's experiences, if any.
