Hi Doug,

My favorate paint style is just a clear varnish. Most wood doesn't need the
help of stain so clear varnish is what I choose to bring out the best
qualities of the wood.

Sharpening style I like a rounded bevel with rounded corners sharpened to
about a 29 degree angle. That works best for my style of carving especially
for going deep into the mantel background.
