A closet flower is a decoration, a flower, for example,  cut out of aromatic cedar and hung in the closet for the aroma it gives out--a simply-made present for Mom.  Kids draw a simple flower like a tulip, cut it out with a coping saw, drill a hole and tie on a colored string hanger.

Even hand tools need adequate supervision, especially among fifth graders, typically, whose main interest is in what the kid at the next table is doing.  The principal should certainly be aware of liability issues if someone gets hurt in a shop with too many students and inadequate supervision.

  You are so right Ivan.  Our shop has some but I think he has gone the way of power cause the kids like it better.  And then he doesn't have enough for all the kids.  That makes it hard.  Then only getting to see them 1 day a week adds to the frustration.  It's almost reteaching them to come in the room for the first time each week.  School has been in for 5 weeks and everyone thinks he's not doing it fast enough but when it's only 1 day that adds up to only 5 days not weeks he has seen them.  We do get stuck in our ruts though and I think that is what is happening here.  I'm going to suggest he tell the administration that he needs more equipment and another pair of eyes in with him that hour.  Your suggestions were excellent.  Sometimes simple things are forgotten over the big and flashy.
