Hi, Randy,
You are not alone in having problems carving eyes. I think most of us did at once time.
I have a short (2-page) tutorial on carving faces on my web page. You...and anyone else who may be interested...are welcome to download it, use it, share it, dump it....whatever. There is a section on carving eyes.
I hope this helps. If I can help, feel free to email me off line.
Good luck...don't give up!
Marcia

Man how I wish I was in an area with some experienced carvers to learn from, I would love to learn to carve faces from Cory.
I have about given up on carving in the round and have started to practice chip carving. I just can't seem to learn to carve eyes, but I am going to try the Pete LeClair CD that Cory mentioned earlier and I already have a set study sticks that I got from Big Dog, but I just can't seem to carve an eye that passes my inspection.
I have met one carver in my area at a craft show but his Santa's eye's were just a chip carved triangle, and all he told me was "Yep I can't do real style eyes either", I keep trying to find others in my area but so far no luck.
I hope Pete LeClairs CD can get me over the hump that is holding me back. Big Dog, do you have that CD?
Keep making Chips!
Randy
