[Woodcarver] Latest Carving

When you get done painting with the acrylic paints and i assume its dried-how do you apply the satin lacquer.
Is it a spray on or with a brush?  Do you put on more than 1 coat?

Here is one I have been working on for a bit. This one is from a  Wayne Shinlever roughout. He is about 11 inches tall on the base finished with acrylics and satin lacquer. This piece is being donated
