[Woodcarver] relief carvings

just started doing relief carving about 4 mos. ago.been looking at some 
of the fellow carvers and now Ron's work ,what is the trick in getting 
everything so smooth? is it sanding after it is done,if so by hand or 
dremal? Would appreciate any help................Thanks Irwin Reisman
