Maura - Some similar plain wooden toppers have a threaded plastic insert (similar to safety caps for medicines) which were glued into the wooden topper.  You may see some examples in a cosmetic department or men’s lotions. The bottle supplier may have a stock design plastic threaded cap that would work.  

A plain wooden topper cap might breathe enough to set-up the product in the bottle. Old Joe
