[Woodcarver] Unusual Folk Art Box

Looks to me like some of the animals could be llamas/alpacas. That would indicate South American origins. The geometric decorations go along with that theory. The wood burning could be called poker-work, maybe; with just a red hot rod stuck into the wood.

Wasn't that about the time that there were hobos making and carving pallets to make objects to sell or trade for food? From the photos it does not look like it was carved from one block of wood. The hinges would have been carved from another piece of wood because they need lengthwise grain for strength.
