[Woodcarver] Interesting Chinese work

Hello, Bernie, et al.,

Thanks for your comments and observations. You say that the
ladies look very Western. I had not realized that, but, although
it is not strongly so, they do look much less authentic, and the
rarity is unknown really except that I had never seen anything
like this on eBay before myself. That does not mean that these
are not commonly available if one is a tourist in China, for
instance.

I mostly thought it was a pretty combination of fret work, carving,
and pyrography.

As I have been researching antique pyrography for some years
now, I have always noticed how the plaques with the Flemish Art
designs for hobbyists often show "Native Americans" where the
women look like Victorian ladies wearing beads and a feather.

Thanks,
Kathleen

 Hello,
I know little about Chinese work but
wonder how one can judge  how rare this item is.
I have a Chinese screen with  figures integrated
into the screen and have been told by an appraiser that the
screen I have is 20th century made for the US market. A
difference between the Ebay screen and mine is that the Ebay
screen seems to portray Western ladies in Chinese
 garments.
