The "mini-grinder” (I am thinking micro-motor) is much easier to use than the flex-shaft machines. Ir doesn’t have the power of the flex-shaft, but is much more controllable. I have used the Ram for many years with minimal problems.

If you are talking about the type of grinder you use two hands to control, I have only used them on chainsaw carvings. For heavy duty work on those I now use the Dremel 732 with the flex-shaft.

Hi Woodcarvers,

I'm considering purchasing a mini grinder and I thought this group might have some suggestions. I've used a full size grinder for several different chores. It gets heavier every time I use it.

It has occurred to me that there are smaller hand held grinders, but I only know them by their advertisements.
To my knowledge there are three companies that make the tool. They are Arbortech, King Arthur and Proxxon. There may be others. What can you tell me?

Thanks!
