Certainly, and it's good to have a sense of the real costs (thanks
Michel).  My Markdown implementations are all Drupal-based -- I'm
using Drupal *a lot* these days -- and its page caching handles this
for me.  Anonymous visitors get cached pages; the cache is updated
upon page edit.
