[MCR] Silver Spray Hut / Kokanee Glacier Park

[Public Mountain Conditions Report]

This info is a bit old now, but Aug. 13-16, fellow guides Albi Sole, Sharon
Wood and myself guided a large group on climbing, scrambling and hiking
objectives out of the Silver Spray hut on the east side of Kokanee Park.  
 
The trail was entirely snow free all the way to the hut which has received
some nice new upgrades.  All the woodpecker holes have been filled and the
entire exterior has a nice new coat of paint.  New rock walls were built to
protect the foundation, new foamies are in place, and the kitchen has been
well stocked with new dishware, cookware, and sink plugs!  A HUGE thanks to

added new foamies and other hut upgrades to the Woodbury Hut!
 
On Aug. 14 our group did a complete traverse of the 3 summits of Cabin Peak
and Mt. McQuarrie in beautiful weather.  On the 15th we were hammered with
strong winds and snow with hut temps still at +1.5C by 10am but one group
was still able to climb the snow couloir beside the Sunrise Prow under mixed
conditions and then descend a small unmapped pocket glacier on the north
side of Sunrise Mountain and circumnavigate the peak on the east to regain
the hut.  By the 16th all new snow from the storm was gone in that area.
