[Slowhand] high-definition surround CD??

quick question for the technologically advanced.  my
father found an Eric clapton CD he thought I didn;t
have, and it was on sale so he bought.  I told him I
would take it (guilt) and am no listening to a "high
definiition surround" CD (or maybe DVD) which is
playing in 5.1 channel w/ DTS and I am hearing things
on "there's one in every crowd" I have never heard
before.  The sound is richer, more expansive,
separated out - it sounds unbelievable, especially
compared to the TOIEC original CD.  My questions
are...
Is this a SACD? (which i doubt b/c my reciever and Cd
player cannot decode SACd as far as i know)
Is this a DVD? (that is the sectionit was in when my
dad picked it up)
If it neither of those things, what exactly is it, and
where can I get more of them to replace my current
collection?
