As the guy that kicked off this whole thing recently, I feel I ought to clarify one point. I did not mean to comment on Claptons playing one way or another, but on the mix. We are used to hearing Clapton's guitar, in the middle of the mix, very high and 'in your face', it was interesting therefore, (to me anyway) to hear EC lower in the mix, sitting where most other guitar players would've been put, as part of the band, rather than overpowering the mix.
