[Slowhand] FW: Old Sock - Utter Crap

I'm in line with the general disappointment experessed here on the latest from EC. Funny thing to me is the album title's kind of ironic, huh? That's exactly what it sounds like, an Old Sock. What's curious is we know he still has it, listen to 'When I Still Had You' on Sonny Landreth's album From The Reach, it's pretty recent. EC guests on that and also 'Stormy Weather', I believe. It's a Robin Trower send up. Of course the main difference is that it's a cameo. We all know his disposition in those spots has always been of the 'one-off' variety with (I think) added gas due to less responsibility and creative pressure. Good news might be that with some recent rumblings from the Clapper, he'll relegate his endeavors strictly to those type of avenues after this year. Now I'll miss Eric as much as anybody else, but if Old Sock turns out to be the last studio output, then I'll take the 'one-off's'. Sort of like 'Old Love'.

Sadly, Kevin is absolutely right.

I was a bit disappointed by the previous album, but this one is utterly unworthy of Mr Clapton talent.

New tracks are boring, covers are amusing at best, amateurish at worst with flat and unsurprising solos.

I sincerely hope that he will put way more energy and commitment in his next world tour.
