[Woodcarver] new here

[Woodcarving]

Hi all

I just started in this great world of woodcarving.

I am an IT professional that was looking for a hobby that I could do with my
hand...

Anyway,  I have a question, where would be a good place to buy wood for
practicing? I live in MD

Does anyone know if I can Home depot or any other store like that would have
it?

As you can see I am still pretty ignorant about this matter.



Also does anyone have a list of wood that are good for woodcarving? I would
like to find a classification of woods, etc
