hi tom,
glad to hear you survived two heart attacks and eye surgery but hope the future treatment will bring relief and good health.

whilst you are finding it difficult to cut because of the eye level view coming from one source, try doing it in clay.

your hands and mind are educated with your carving experience, try creating figures using your fingers, or the sense of touch to create wonderful maquettes , and i suggest you close the good eye as well. just use your eyesclosed and mind and soul, and you will be surprised and the great beauties you can create, by thinking, feeling sensing using your educated fingers with your inner self...and sixth sense. ... vamboom... you will have bombastic objects of art. p.s. it will also strengthen your hands, using muscles and tendons that have not been used in this type of work before, benefiting your health .
best wishes
maricha

Got a question. In July I had cataract surgery. The right eye was successful, but the left eye required three more surgeries in the hospital and now I am legally blind in the left eye. Also the three surgeries caused two heart attacks. Recently they put a couple of stents in one side of the heart and when it recovers enough they plan on putting three more stents in the other side of the heart. The problem is that while waiting I have started to try to carve and find that it is pretty difficult with only one eye. You loose depth perception. I was wondering if any of you carve with one eye and how you overcame this problem.
