What I would like to see more of is which gouges or V tools were used and
why. Power carving . . . same thing, high speed steel bits or diamond bits.
You know, the practical every day things that is the heart of the craft. I
don't think I am missing the skills, but I am missing the experience and the
methods. Ok . . . you get the idea. Hope I didn't offend anyone

Hi Richard, this list has fallen off a bit lately which actually seems to be
a phenomena of late in many carving arenas. but if there are no questions
posed, then there are no answers for you. what you suggest about tools and
bits is too broad a topic for anyone. we deal in specifics as different chisel
profiles and bits are used for many different applications. Are you working
on a project? do you need help in any particular area?? do you need a tool or
bit to do something specific. There are many well qualified and talented
carvers here. don't discount them. ask a question and see what type of help you
get. A lot of us are serious craftsmen and artists and are too busy to be
chatting too often. I wouldn't knock the chatting either as it is a way for
you to get to know your fellow carvers and contributes to a close community.
This carving list is actually known for its lack of banter as its one way to
get removed from the list.
